City kids shine in ICSE, ISC exam

PATNA: City students have come out with flying colours in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) exams for Classes X and XII, results for which were declared on Wednesday.

Abhishek Kumar of International School appears to have topped in Class X exam in the city with 98.4%, followed by Neha Kumari of St Paul’s High School with 98% and Harshita Vidasariya of St Joseph’s Convent with 97.6% marks.

Abhishek scored a neat 100 in computer applications, 99 each in science and social studies and 95 in maths. “I’m on cloud nine. Although I wasn’t expecting such a good result, even my neighbours were sure of my performance,” he said and profusely thanked his teachers and parents for the prop they provided to him.
Abhishek, whose father Manoj Kakkar works for the State Bank of India, aspires to study engineering at an IIT. “Two months of real hard study,” he said when asked about his success mantra.

“Though it’s pleasant, it hasn’t come as a surprise,” International School principal Farhat Hassan said and described Abhishek as a bright, hard-working all-rounder.

International School’s Rajat Raj with 97% and Aditya Prakash with 96% closely followed Abhishek while Farjana Naushin topped among this school’s girls with 94.4% marks.

At St Joseph’s Convent High School, Harshita’s friends Rishika Sinha and Zeba Iqbal were second and third toppers with 97.4% and 97% marks, respectively. In the +2 ISC exam, Zehra Rampurawala topped the school in the Commerce faculty with 93.2% while Satakshi Anand was the top scorer in the Arts section with 92.2% marks.

“Our students, including the underprivileged children, have also done exceptionally well. In fact, this was the 15th batch of the school and none of our students has ever failed,” said Madam Rizvi of Rose Bud. Eighteen of the school’s 51 students, who wrote the Class X exam, have secured above 90% with Prateek Raj (95.4%), Ankit Srivastava (95.2%) and Yusuf Ali Imam (92.6%) emerging the toppers of the school.

All the Don Bosco Academy students too cleared the exam with Suman Raj fetching 97%, followed by Aditya Kumar (96.8%) and Siddhant Shekhar (96%). In the +2 exam, Ritu Raj Raman of the school scored the highest 95% in the Science stream while Abhiraj’s was an equal score in Commerce.

St Xavier’s High School’s Class X students were also a happy lot with 99% of them securing first division marks. Here, the topper was Isra Hasnain who scored 95.17%. She was followed by Mohd Osaid Razi (94.6%) and Ashwani Kumar (94.5 %).

St Xavier’s principal George Nedumattan was all praise for the topper and said he knew it would be Isra. But Isra hadn’t expected it. “I was rather a tad nervous on the eve of the D-Day. My parents are very happy because I didn’t even attend coaching classes,” the girl told TOI and added she on an average studied for 12 hours a day. Her ambition is to become a doctor, a la her parents, and serve the needy.

All the 354 Class X students of St Karen’s High School secured first division marks. Varun Dutt and Shubham topped the school, securing 96% each while Priyanka Jayaswal and Smriti followed them with 95% each. Nilesh Nishant and Akansha stood third in the school with 94% each.

Himanshu Prasad and Shubham Sundarka of St Paul’s Academy stood first and second in their school where 64 students passed the Class X exam.

At St Paul’s High School, topper Neha’s classmates Ritesh Kumar scored 96.4% while Abhinav Vardhan and Ankit Anand fetched 95.6% marks each to become second and third toppers.

Rashmi Raj (95%), Shalini Sinha (94%) and Rohan Kumar Jha (92%) of Class X were top scorers at Lohia Nagar Mt Carmel High School. Varsha Sinha, Rahul Ranjan, Prachi Pratyasha and Adyayani were among the top scorers in the school in Class XII exam.
