BCC welcomes the decision to reduce VAT on kerosene

PATNA: The Bihar Chamber of Commerce (BCC) has welcomed the decision of the state government to reduce value added tax (VAT) on kerosene.

BCC president P K Agarwal on Monday said that the state government and deputy CM-cum-finance minister Sushil Kumar Modi deserves kudos for taking such a useful decision. This shows the sincere concern of the state government to check inflation and also shows its intention to keep an effective control on the prices of commodities in the state, he said.

Agarwal said kerosene is mostly used by the poor for cooking and lighting. The reduction in rate of VAT would provide immense relief to the people, particularly to the weaker section of the society, he said, adding that the BCC had registered its strong protest against Centre’s recent decision to hike the prices of petrol and petroleum products.
