IMA asks govt to implement MPEPA

PATNA: IMA (Bihar chapter) at its executive committee has asked the state government to implement the Medical Professional and Establishment Protection Act (MPEPA) in Bihar to protect doctors from being harassed unduly.

The IMA members, in a meeting held on Thursday, expressed their concern at recent attack on doctors and indescent behaviour meted out to them by the patients’ attendants.

Though, the state government is considerate towards the doctors fraternity, attack on doctors are being reported every now and then, said IMA Bihar president Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh. He asked the government to implement the MPEPA in the state which is already in place in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Delhi and West Bengal to save the doctors from further harassment.
