Rashmi, Bhushan to represent India in 3rd World carrom championships

Patna, September 16, 2010: Twice World champion Rashmi Kumari of BSNL Bihar will represent India in the 3rd World Cup carrom championships to be held in Richmond, Virginia (USA) from September 27 to October 1.

Giving this information Bihar State Carrom Association (BSCA) executive president Ravi P Sinha said BSCA secretary Bharat Bhushan would be the coach of the team.

He said All India Carrom Federation (AICF) would organise a preparatory camp under the supervision of Bharat Bhushan in Faridabad from September 20 to 23.

Rashmi Kumari had brought many laurels to India. She won the World Cup title in 2001 (New Delhi) and was placed 3rd in 2008 (France). Rashmi Kumari also won SAARC and Asian Cup in 2009.

Bhushan, who is working in the office Principal Accountant General (Audit), Bihar, has been again nominated by AICF as coach of the Indian Team. Bhushan had a good record in international outings. Indian team had won all the medals at France World Carrom Championship held in 2008 under his supervision.

Meanwhile, Bihar State Carrom Association congratulated Rashimi and Bhushan for their feat. BSCA president Shyam Nandan Sharma said that both the participants were experienced and had participated in many international tournaments earlier.

Bhushan was the manager of Indian team, which won World Carrom Championship at Sri Lanka in 1995 and 2004. Bhushan had also participated at UK and Malaysian Open tournaments, he added.
