27 lakh children in Bihar to be vaccinated for measles

In a drive to contain measles among children, the Bihar state government will vaccinate 27 lakh children between the age group of nine months to 10 years in five districts of Magadh division from December 13, principal secretary (Health) CK Mishra said today.

The drive will cover the districts of Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad and Nawada, he said.

The vaccination will be carried out for three weeks, but its duration may be extended if necessary, Mishra said.

The second phase of vaccination for measles in remaining 33 districts will be carried out next year, he said.

The vaccination drive was being launched to make the state measles-free, he said.
