Bihar adds 27 km of roads every day


PATNA: Once notorious for bad roads, Bihar now boasts of having roads like runways. Claiming this in the assembly on Thursday, rural works department (RWD) minister Bhim Singh referred to a newspaper report saying a small aircraft landed on the road in Rohtas district on February 24, got refuelled at a roadside petrol pump and took off.

Singh was replying to debate on the budgetary demand of his department for Rs 1634.50 crore which was approved by voice vote rejecting the Opposition cut motion.

The budgetary demands of rural development department for Rs 1473.97 crore was presented by Nitish Mishra, while Hari Prasad Sah presented budgetary demands of panchayati raj department for Rs 3232.88 crore and Parveen Amanullah presented demands of social welfare department for Rs 2965.64 crore. All the budgetary demands were approved by the House.
