Bihar officers’ declared assets on the website soon

Patna: Details of movable and immovable assets of public servants and bureaucrats in Bihar would soon be put on website for public viewing.

In accordance with a government circular, the officers were furnishing their property details to the government, which would later be uploaded on the website.

About 400 government employees, including IAS and IPS officers, have furnished details of their assets ahead of the February 28 deadline fixed by the Bihar government.

The government had last week warned of withholding the salaries of those government employees who would fail to furnish details of their property.

General Administration Department Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar said that most of the government employees have submitted their asset details to the concerned drawing and disbursal officers in compliance with a recent government circular to this effect.

“The remaining government employees were also likely to follow suit ahead of the February 28 deadline,” he said.

The assets details of the government employees would be compiled upon receipt of information from all district and then posted on the website for public viewing, Kumar said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after taking up office for the second term last year had issued a circular directing the state government employees to submit their assets details by February.

They were warned that their salaries would be withheld if they failed to furnish the details within the stipulated time frame.

Kumar and his Council of Ministers had themselves declared their asset details by December 31. “The exercise is aimed at curbing corruption,” the Principal Secretary said.
