Govt will reopen dead ayurvedic colleges

PATNA: Out of five ayurvedic medical colleges in the state, four are ‘dead’, admitted health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey in the Bihar Legislative Council during the question hour in the pre-lunch session on Tuesday.

Replying to a question of Kedar Nath Pandey ( CPI), Choubey said that except for the ayurvedic medical college in Patna, all four other colleges located in Darbhanga, Begusarai, Buxar and Bhagalpur were dead. The minister, however, said the government was committed to run ayurvedic colleges in Bihar.

He said that the process to reopen these ayurvedic colleges were on. The process of admitting students to the Begusarai-based college had already begun. “We are committed to make these medical colleges functional in the next financial year,” the minister informed the House.
