Bihar approves setting up of e-Learning institute

Patna: Bihar will soon have a regional institute of e-Learning and information technology (IT).

The DOEACC Society in Patna would set up the institution. The Bihar cabinet at its meeting on Tuesday gave its approval to the proposal.

Cabinet secretary Ravi Kant said that the state government would provide 15 acres of land for setting up this institute in Patna. The government would release a fund of Rs 5.84 crore for procurement of the land required for the institute.

Construction cost and recurring expenses would be borne by DOEACC Society. The Cabinet Secretary said that the government has assured that the functioning of the institute would be delayed due to time taken in procurement of land and constructing the building.

For the time being, the government has decided to provide about 8000 sqft area at the BISCOMAUN building near Gandhi Maidan. The rent for a period of four years would be paid to the concerned department. A sum of Rs 1.53 crore has been sanctioned for the payment of rent, Ravi Kant added.

He said that it was presumed that the procurement of the land and constructing the building would take around three and a half years. Though he did not reveal the exact date of start of the institute, he said that the institute would start its course very soon.
