PATNA: Janani`s Surya clinic at Ara has been identified as one of the first three sites to offer free abortion care services to women under the `Yukti` scheme, launched by the state government.
The `Yukti` scheme aims to reach comprehensive abortion care to the clients through the public and certified private sector centres. The facilities on offer are first tri-semester safe abortion services and treatment of post-abortion complications as well as incomplete or missed abortion cases. The first of its kind, the scheme highlights the importance of access to safe abortions as an important tool to ensure the health of women and the government`s commitment to it.
Seven other Surya clinics would begin offering free abortion services as soon as they get accreditation under the scheme. Janani aims to offer the `Yukti` facilities from all its Surya clinics by the end of the year.
Janani, through its network of Surya clinics across Bihar and Jharkhand, provides family planning and abortion care services to women. Janani is also setting up an institute to train abortion care providers.
