Britannia to setup plants in Bihar

Calcutta, July 2: Britannia Industries will invest more than Rs 200 crore this year and also set up two facilities in Bihar and Orissa.

“Investments this year could be over Rs 200 crore. Meanwhile, we are piloting our ‘Healthy Start’ range of breakfast options. The test run is being done in Mumbai,” Vinita Bali, managing director of Britannia, said. She was speaking on the sidelines of the executive committee meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) today.

When asked if Britannia would go for a price hike given the rise in commodity prices, Bali said, “We do that all the time. Food inflation in India is currently in the range of 11-12 per cent. We will have to manage our costs and inflation through a better revenue management.”

On the industrial growth prospects in Bengal, she said, “The mood looks positive. It is for the government to decide what they want to do. The industry is ready.”

“In Bengal, we have been increasing our sales by 25 per cent and creating greater backend facilities here,” she said.
