Cops in Bihar to live in Bulletproof houses

Police Cops in Bihar will get bullet proof barracks to live in.According to soruces, the department will spend Rs 30 crore for the purchase of bulletproof prefabricated barracks, which are currently being used by central police organizations (CPOs) engaged in forward areas and a few states, including Chhattisgarh.

It is a new concept and Bihar would have this kind of barracks for the first time. Such barracks would definitely boost the morale of the police force and infuse a sense of security among them, particularly those deployed in hard-core naxal areas and difficult hilly terrain in the state. According to a senior police officer, such barracks would be installed in 15 districts.

ADG (headquarters) Rajyavardhan Sharma said that the task of purchasing bulletproof, prefabricated and reerectable barracks has been assigned to Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation, which has invited expression of interest from the firms engaged in making such barracks. Apart from barracks, the police headquarters also intend to have bulletproof ‘morcha (picket)’, he said. Each barrack would be like a house as it would have bathroom, kitchen, dinning hall, toilet and bedrooms.
