Bihar Government initiates bidding for 3 new thermal power plants

Bihar Government has started the process of developing three Coal Based Power Plants with the total capacity of 4000 Megawatts.Bihar Power Infrastructure Company has invited bids for this purpose. Each thermal power project will have a capacity around 1,320 megawatts. The projects will come at Chausa village at Buxar district, Kajra in Lakhisarai and Pirpainti in Bhagalpur.

Out of 1320 Megawatts of power, 1,125 megawatts will be purchased by the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB), while the rest can be sold to a third party.Land Acquisitions have been made for these plants. The water required for these projects will be sourced from the Ganga.

Procurement of coal for these plants can be a difficult task with the decrease in the annual Coal Produce of Coal India Limited. The Bidders will also face several concern like rising interest rates and delayed financial closures for power projects
