Datawind Corporation, the makers of Aakash Tab, have scheduled the launch of Aakash 2 Tab by February 2012.
This would be the second in series of Aakash Tab and is expected to be an enhanced version overcoming all the limitations of it. As per the Datawind spokesperson, the Aakash 2 version would have the following enhancements
1. The Microprocessor would be of 800 MHz instead of present 336 MHz
2. There would be a built in 2MP Front Facing Camera
3. It would support Andriod Marketplace
4. Users would be able to download videos from Youtube
5. It would have 1 GB of RAM in place of present 256 MB RAM. This would solve the system speed issues.
6. Users would be able to install other Free Softwares available Online
7. It would have better sound Quality.
These improvements have been made after receiving feedback of over 500 pre-release users. The design of Aakash – 2 has also been done by IIT Rajasthan. 35% of hardware components are sourced from South Korea, 25% from China, 16% from the USA, 16% from India and 8% from other countries. It would be unveiled by February 2012 and is expected to hit market in subsequent 2 months.
