Valmiki Tiger roaming free close to Patna

Tiger at Valimiki National ParkPatnites! Get Alert. A wild Tiger is roaming freely as close to 20 kms from the capital city Patna. He has crossed some 300 kms from Valmiki Tiger Reserve and has temporarily settled at a small riverine island created by the Gandak river just 20 km from Patna.

The beast has been present there for past 15 days and is expected to march further, adding to the headaches of Forest Department. The Department is suspecting that the animal might fell prey to the local villagers. Both Bihar Government and the National Tiger Conservation authority are worried about this.

The small river-made island consists of tall grasses full of wild pigs and Neel Gais providing him sufficient prey.

Tiger Experts believe that it has traversed along the banks of Gandak River, which flows inside the Valmiki Tiger Reserve, making route to this riverine island. Tiger Experts and members of Wildlife Trust of India are camping in the locality to ensure that he does not cause any harm to the local population and not get harmed himself.

Bihar Chief Secretary   has been also been informed  and arrangements are being made  to ensure that  villagers donot go too close to the place where Tiger is parking.
