India gets its first Online Braille Library

With the inauguration of the Nation’s first online Braille library, Multilingual educational books are now a mere click of away to blind people.

Union Social Justice Minister, Mukul Washnik launched it at the National Institute for Handicapped to commemorate the birth anniversary of Louis Braille.
NIVH Director Anuradha Mohit said that nearly 12,000 books in the library of 10 different languages ​​are made available in user friendly format . This feature will make education easier for blind people.

Wasnik said that this online library is dedicated to blind students in different universities getting their higher education. The library will cater to students in subjects ranging from Information Technology to Literature, Wasnik said, adding persons with visual impairment must benefit from this technological accessibility for information

On this occasion, the minister also unveiled Braille version of Bhagwad Geeta and Kuran
