Bilawal Bhutto terms Musharraf as his Mother’s Killer

Former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed because the government of then president Parvez Musharraf did not provide her adequate security, her son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has alleged.

Bilawal, who is chairman of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), said Musharraf was aware of the threats when Al Qaeda had instructed the Taliban to kill her.

Musharraf “sabotaged the security” when he knew about the impending attack, Bilawal said.

He said when Musharraf imposed a state of emergency in Pakistan, it was clear he was not interested in return of democracy in the country.

“My mother started to speak out more against him, and the security was decreased,” he said in an interview to CNN during his visit to Washington.

“In fact, Osama bin Laden tried five times to kill my mother and the final attack on Dec 27, 2007 was successful,” the official APP news agency quoted him as saying.
