Cocktail Movie makes a grand opening at Multiplexes across India

Cocktail Movie WallpapersCocktail Movie has made a tremendous opening at Multiplexes. Almost 75-80 percent Multiplexes are showing it, which so far no movie has achieved in 2012. It is expected to make a First Day collection of Rs 10 Crores any may cross Rs 100 Crores in 2 Weeks.

According to Box Office Data, it had almost 100 percent opening in PVR, DT, Wave and Big in North.

In West, it had 100 percent opening at PVR, 100 percent at City Gold,90 percent in Cinemax, 95 percent in Big for the first 2 shows.

This type of opening at the premium multiplexes can be compared with only Agneepath  and  Bodyguard last year. These premium multiplexes are mainly situated in metros and there satellite towns and there are not many in numbers but still to clock up such huge opening numbers at these theatres is great for Cocktail as not many films open to such big collections at premium multiplexes. The opening was lower in the range of 50% at multiplexes in places like Allahabad, Meerut or Bhatinda.

Cocktail is likely to put very good numbers at premium multiplexes in centres like Gurgaon and Bangalore and should beat the opening numbers of films like Rowdy Rathore and Bol Bachchan in these places but the key heartland belts will be a problem and with a name like Cocktail, the prospects in the heartland are curtailed further.

Story Line

When 24-year-old Veronica (Deepika Padukone) and Meera (Diana Penty), 23, start living together during the summer in London, they have very different agendas. Meera is awkward, introvert and recovering from a hoax marriage to Kunal Ahuja (Randeep Hooda) who has duped her off her life-savings by using the pretense of setting up a base for them in London.

Veronica (Deepika Padukone), the free-spirited, troubled and sometimes volatile firecracker. In sharp contrast is her best friend Meera (Diana Penty), who is demure, sorted and at times, meek.

She is spending her time under Veronica’s roof until she can get some footing and find a job in this foreign land. Veronica, on the other hand, is a wild-child, impulsive, constantly looking for distractions to escape facing issues of a troubled upbringing. Being poles apart brings the two close, forging a loyal and solid friendship.

Soon Gautam, 32, (Saif Ali Khan) enters their lives, moves in with them and has a whirlwind relationship with Meera. He too is looking for a no-strings-attached relationship and it seems that Veronica might be the perfect girl for that.Meera does love Gautam because his don’t-give-a-damn attitude reminds her of her husband who had conned her into coming to London in the first place.

Both Gautam and Veronica believe in living for the moment and they honestly consider this a fling rather than a serious relationship. But as three people living together they all have a blast… Though their intentions for each other don’t change, their friendship starts to grow strong. It becomes a beautifully balanced friendship between three people. Soon Gautam realizes that he is in the horns of dilemma since he has to chose between Meera and Veronica. Unable to decide between the two, he removes himself from their lives but unlike his intentions, this sudden emptiness in both Meera and Veronica’s life worsens living for both.
