Monsoon showers  have bathed twhole North India bringing an end to heavy summer and relief to residents. New Delhi, recorded 40.1 mm of rainfall in the last 8 hours, more downpour is expected during the day, a Met department official said.
“One or two spells of rainfall are likely during the day. The skies would mainly remain cloudy,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
Maximum and minimum temperatures will stay around 34 and 23 degrees Celsius, the IMD official added.
The temperatures in the sun-scorched Uttar Pradesh went down considerably Saturday with heavy to moderate rains reported from most parts of the state.
Uttar Pradesh received heavy rains late Friday night, bringing down the temperature below 28 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal.
The weather office has forecast more rains across the state.
According to State Met director J.P. Gupta, rain and thundershowers would occur at many places in the state in the next 24 hours.
“An upper air cyclonic circulation is presently over central UP and a trough line (a group of small cyclonic circulations) is also passing throughout the state,” Gupta said.
With rains lashing most parts of the state, the average temperature which hovered around 43 degrees Celsius, fell to 35 degrees Celsius on an average, weather officials said.
Varanasi Friday recorded the highest rainfall of 90 mm followed by Bahraich with 54 mm. Districts like Basti, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur, Sultanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Jaunpur and Chitrakoot recorded 50 mm average rainfall.
Rains have also been reported from western parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the National Capital Region (NCR).
