Patna, Aug 7 (IANS) The family of 34-year-old Satnam Singh Mann, who died in mysterious circumstances in Kerala, want a CBI probe into his death.
Mann, from Bihar’s Gaya district, was brought dead to the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram Saturday, his family and relatives said.
“We want a CBI probe into my grandson’s unnatural death,” grandfather Babu Kishore Singh said.
A businessman, Singh told IANS over telephone that neither he nor his family was satisfied by the Kerala government’s decision to order a Crime Branch probe into the death.
“We strongly suspect that my grandson was brutally tortured in jail. It’s a case for CBI,” he said.
Mann, a law student in Lucknow, was arrested when he created disturbances at spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi’s ashram near Kollam last week. He was charged with trying to attack the Mata.
Every news is only discussing how Satnam Singh was brutally beaten and killed. But equally important is to ask another question : Why he was killed?
Why did the police act so brutally in a case where the state home minister was personally involved?
Where did they get the courage and directive(?) to treat him so badly?
Why was an IPC 307 charged for such a minor offence where no weapon was involved, no one was hurt ?
Satnam Singh had been staying at the Ashram from 8th July for 3 weeks. Nothing bad has been ever reported.
Was he drugged? What kind of drug was in his bloodstream?
This case must go to some International Human Rights Organization.
This investigation is bogus!
For namesake 3 duty attenders and one nurse have been charged / arrested now. These are mere temporary scapegoats. Attempt is now to convert this murder into a petty mental hospital incident where the verdict will be :”Singh died of the injuries sustained from other inmates!”.
Reality is entirely different.
The investigation done by Kerala Police is basically flawed. IG B Sandhya has already distorted the investigation. Now the only scapegoats are the people in the mental hospital. She has visited Matha Mayi Ashram etc (for what? the murder and beating did not take place there, and the minister had already been there).
Recall that a person arrested for a minor offence was quickly transferred from Jail Custody to an oridnary hospital and then to mental hospital and after death to a medical college hospital!!! The person had been living at Matha Mayi Ashram without any problems from 8th July for 3 weeks. Some of the followers of the godwoman made the allegation that while moving towards the Mata, Satnam was shouting in Arabic (PROVED TO BE FALSE!), a language unknown to Satnam and who, prior to his arrest, stayed for more than three weeks at the Mata’s ashram and did not offend anybody during his long ashram stay.
Strangely enough, the Kerala police booked Satnam under Section 307 of the IPC even though, according to Gaya lawyer, Aziz Ahmad Muneri, the alleged offence, at best merited Section 323 (scuffle).
Police beat him to pulp first. The beating started from the van itself. Claimed to have produced him with Shasthamkotta Magistrate (was a there a lwayer for him?). Singh that time claimed he was not attacking Matha Mayi (reported in some Kerala newspapers) Remanded into police custody. Further beating in Jail.
Singh was taken to ordinary hospital and drugged there. Then transferred to mental hospital as a mental patient. By then his body and consciousness were severely damaged. Mental hospital gave the final dose to kill him.
Home Minister of Kerala who came on TV after the arrest, who visited Matha Mayi, who promised a fair investigation of the attack, is silent after the murder. Justice means justice for the defendent also.
Unless International Human Rights Organziation interfere this will go as a huge crime committed in front of almost LIVE TV !
