How Gopal Kanda mislead the Investigators in Geetika Sharma Case

Gopal Kanda, the prime accused in the death of Former Air Hostess Geetika Sharma didnot provide  satisfactory answer to any of the questions posed upon him.  Police is planning to perform Brain Mapping and NARCO tests on Kanda in order to get some concrete evidence against him.

Police began probing Kanda at 10 am sharp on Sunday. He was taken to the MDLR office and finally brought back to Ashok Nagar police station at 5pm.

Interrogators had a tough time grilling Kanda, who came “prepared for police’s questions”. It is believed that Kanda did some home work with lawyers before facing the police.

Police also  plans to confront him with his co-accused Aruna Chaddha.

Chaddha’s claim that Geetika underwent multiple abortions is also yet to be established. It was clear from Geetika’s autopsy report that she was habituated to unnatural sex. But, whether it was forced upon her or not, is yet to be ascertained.

His lawyers have described  Geetika as a “hypersensitive girl” with “mixed emotions of hatred and love” for him.

Investigations so far have thrown up concrete evidence indicating that Mr. Kanda and his close associates were pressurising Geetika mentally in various ways.

The police are now trying to ascertain whether Mr. Kanda tried to destroy evidence related to the case during the period he was evading arrest. They will also try to identify those who sheltered him and may initiate legal proceedings against them.

Asked about his hideouts, Kanda said he stayed at various places in Gurgaon, Delhi, Sirsa and Jaipur. After being served a notice on August 8 to join the probe, Kanda left his home in Gurgaon for a friend’s house in Delhi. He was accompanied by a Gurgaon police officer.

“The same night, Kanda moved to Sirsa and hid at his friend’s house till August 11. Between August 11 and 14, he was hiding with a relative’s friend. On August 15, he shifted to Gurgaon, reaching Delhi on August 17 and eventually surrendering,” the officer said.

The post-mortem report of Geetika said she died of hanging and the ligature mark is ante-mortem in nature. The report also suggested that she had physical relationship.

“Sealed samples of vaginal and anal swabs along with slides were preserved for semen and DNA profiling and handed over to the police,” the report said.
