Chandigarh: IPS officer S. N. Vashisht has been appointed as the new Director General of Police of Haryana.
A 1981-cadre IPS officer, Vashisht will take over Wednesday on the superannuation of present DGP Ranjiv Dalal.
Vashisht was earlier posted as district police chief in Jind, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Gurgaon and Bhiwani districts. He also served in the Intelligence Bureau for five years from 1997. He was the director general of the vigilance bureau till now.
The government has appointed Dalal as director-general of the Haryana Institute of Public Administration for a period of one year.
