Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chaddha to celebrate this Diwali in Prison

Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chaddha will celebrate this Diwali in Jails. A Delhi court has extended their judicial custody till November 21 in Geetika Sharma case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D.K. Jangala extended the judicial custody of Kanda and Chaddha, a former official of Kanda’s now-defunct MDLR Airlines, where Geetika worked, till Nov 21, and directed police to supply the remaining documents of the chargesheet to the accused.

Police filed the chargesheet Oct 6.

The court has fixed Nov 17 to hear the plea of Kanda’s close associate and employee Chanshivroop Singh, seeking to turn approver in the case.

Singh recorded his statement Wednesday in a magisterial court after judge Jangala’s direction of Tuesday.

Kanda was forced to resign as minister of state for home and urban local bodies in Haryana in the face of a public outcry over Geetika’s suicide.

He was arrested Aug 18.

Geetika, 23, died on the night of Aug 4-5 at her house in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. Her two suicide notes named Kanda and Chaddha, and accused them of harassing her to the point where she felt compelled to take her own life.

Both Kanda and Chaddha have denied the allegations.

After Kanda’s airlines ceased to function in 2009, Geetika was given another assignment in the group owned by him.
