Bihar has been known for long heritage of producing brave and qualified soldiers. The Great Bihar Regiment is a live testimony to this fact. It was Bihar Regiment which first triggered the revolt in 1857.
The legacy is carried forward by the sons of Bihar. In last one year over 4500 Biharis have been recruited into Indian Army. This accounts for the third highest number by any state next only to UP and Maharashtra.
Uttar Pradesh provided the maximum number of 7,600 soldiers to the Indian Army in 2011-12 compared to none by Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Pondicherry.
There was also no recruitment in this period from Dadar Nagar Haveli as well as Daman and Diu, Defence Minister A.K. Antony said in a statement in the Lok Sabha.
According to the statement, Uttar Pradesh was followed by Maharashtra (5,312), Bihar (4,540), Punjab (3,751), Rajasthan (3,602), West Bengal (3,535), Andhra Pradesh (2,890), Madhya Pradesh (2,761), Uttarakhand (2,585) and Haryana (2,452).
Chandigarh contributed just one soldier to the army in 2011-12.
Among southern states, Andhra Pradesh was followed by Tamil Nadu, which provided 2,377 soldiers during 2011-12, Kerala (2,077) and Karnataka (1,632).
From the northeast, Assam led with 1,019 soldiers followed by Manipur (587), Arunachal Pradesh (190), Nagaland (134), Sikkim (108), Tripura (104), Mizoram (94) and Meghalaya (91).

My name is Asoka Kumar.P discharged from service after completion of 18 years and 3 months service as Hav in 31 Aug 2007. Now I am getting pension Rs 8000 only whereas my friends getting more pension those who have discharged from service after 2008. They are also discharged in the same rank and less service than me(only 15 years). So can you clarify these variations factor ?. It will resolve one the one rank one pension will implement by govt ?
