There are a total of 71,397 vacancies in the six central armed police forces and Assam Rifles, parliament was informed on Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh said this included 3,447 vacancies among officers, 25,204 among Junior Commissioned Officers and the rest among other ranks.
The forces include the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Security Guard (NSG) besides Assam Rifles.
The minister said that against the total vacancies, 67,597 candidates had been recommended for selection.
