Rajkeswur also known as Kailash Purryag has his ancestral roots in Gaya district of Bihar. This being fourth time, a Bihar-Origin Person has been invited to be the Chief Guest of this Largest Event of NRIs across the World.
Earlier, Sir Anerood Jugnauth in 2003, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam in 2008 and H.E. Ms. Kamla Persad-Bissessar in 2012 were the Chief Guests of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas till date.
Rajkeswur Purryag is also scheduled to visit his ancestral village in Gaya district of Bihar on January 6 in search of his roots.
In January last year, Kamla Persad Bissessar, the first woman prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, also visited her ancestral village Bhelupur in Itarhi in Bihar’s Buxar district.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, since its inception in 2003 is being hosted every year on January 9, to mark the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa and serves as the three way link among Indians, Non Resident Indians and the People of Indian Origin.
