Court removes Charges of Hate Speech against Varun Gandhi

A Local court at Pilibhit, today removed the charges of Hate Speech against Varun Gandhi and acqutted him in the case.

The Case was filed against him during 2009 Lok Sabha Elections. Last February 27, he was acquitted in another such case of Hate Speech.

Presiding Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Quayyum dismissed the charges slapped against him in the Barkhera police station durng 2009 Lok Sabha Polls.

A case of violence outside the district jail against him had been referred to the sessions court, according to the prosecution.

He had said during a rally at Pilibhit, “This is not a hand (Congress symbol), it is the power of the lotus (BJP symbol). It will cut the head of… Jai Shri Ram,”

Expressing happiness over the Acquittal process, 33-year-old Varun expressed his faith in the judiciary and welcomed the decision of the court. “This has been a long and hard fought battle for justice. I welcome the court’s decision in vindicating me. I am deeply grateful to those who stood by and believed in me through this difficult time. “I shall continue working for a strong and united India,” he said.
