Musharraf feels proud that he conspired Kargil War

Islamabad: General Pervez Musharraf, the former Army Chief of Pakistan today earned the flak of Online world, when he said that he was proud of Kargil Operation. He called it a great Military victory, while blamed his political opponents for converting it into a Political Defeat.

This created an immediate furore in Indian Media which always held Musharraf in high esteem.

Musharraf just returned from a 4 years long self-imposed exile from London and is contesting elections to be held this year.

The kind of media coverage his return got in India, and the frequency with which he appears on Indian television channels and gets invited to conclaves organised by the media across the border has raised eyebrows here often enough.

Particularly since Pakistani peace activists and players have been shown the door in India but Gen. Musharraf gets the red carpet.

Musharraf was received with open arms by hundreds of his supporters when he landed at Karachi airport on March 24 from Dubai. As chief of Pakistan army, he took power in a 1999 coup after dismissing the elected government of Nawaz Sharif. He was forced to resign from the post of president in 2008 when a coalition government led by President Asif Ali Zardai came to power. He left the country in 2009 and has since lived in Dubai and London.

“I returned to Pakistan for the sake of my country. I am trying to persuade the people to vote for me,” Dawn reported Musharraf as saying.
