Police Officer Suspended for Stopping Vehicle of MLAs

In a move that can worsen the situation, the Mumbai Cop who stopped an MLA in Maharashtra from over-speeding has been suspended by the State Police Government.

The Police Officer was also assaulted by the two Legislators when he stopped their car from over speeding on the  Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai .

According to Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil, “Early inquiries suggest Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Suryavanshi used inappropriate language against Kshitij Thakur, an MLA from the Bahujan Vikas Party, who was present in the car”.

Meanwhile, A local court  has granted bail to the two MLAs who were arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer inside the state legislature complex. Metropolitan magistrate UM Padwad, while granting bail to MLAs Ram Kadam and Kshitij Thakur, observed that their further custody was not required.

Both the MLAs had on Friday last moved the bail application after the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police sought their judicial custody, saying that further investigation could not be carried out as traffic police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi, whom they had allegedly assaulted, was not in a position to identify the accused.
