Sundarajan Pichai, an Indian becomes Head of Google’s Android Division

Sundarajan Pichai, an Alumnus of IIT Kharagpur has taken over as the Head of Google’s Android Division. He has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of Android, Chrome and Google Apps at Google. Commonly known as  Sundar Pichai, he originally hails from Tamil Nadu.

Sundar received his Bachelors in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and was awarded an Institute Silver Medal. He holds an M.S. from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Siebel Scholar.

Pichai joined Google in 2004, where he lead the product management and innovation efforts for a suite of Google’s client software products, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, as well as being largely responsible for Google Drive.

According to CEO Larry Page, “Sundar Pichai will lead Android, in addition to his existing work with Chrome and Apps. Sundar has a talent for creating products that are technically excellent yet easy to use – and he loves a big bet,”

The Present Android Head and Creator of Android, Andy Rubin has stepped down for unknown reason and shall up unknown.
