A Bihari Woman who became Celebrity by Collecting Garbage

Patna: Garbage Collection in cities is considered a low class job and often we never know those people who keep our city clean. But like everything the stature of this occupation is changing in Bihar and people involved in this are getting recognized.

Kiran Devi, a woman from Patna Bihar has risen to fame by collecting garbage in the city. She has been honored by Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and a documentary about her has been released by UNICEF.

To add to all these, she presently provides regular employment opportunity to over 200 Women in Patna and herself earns close to Rs 50,000 per month.

According to Kiran, it all started Ten Years back, when someone suggested her the idea to collect the used packets of milk and to sell them. Enthusiased by the Idea, Kiran took it as a full time job and soon the Business started to flourish.

Kiran is merely 28 years old Girl and has studied up to Class Seventh in Bihar Board. Among those who know here, she is popularly called Kabadiwaali.
