Bihar is the first state
 in country where Female Community Police known as Nirbhaya Cops is going to be started at Schools and Colleges. The Name Nirbhaya has been taken as a token of tribute towards December 16 Rape Victim. This system of Nirbhaya Cops has been started as a pilot project in the schools  and colleges of Patna  and later would be expanded to other districts.
Under this scheme, group of 100 Girls would be formed as a unit and the unit would be taught methods of self defense and be specifically trained to protect other girls during unwanted situations.
This is a pilot project of an NGO named as Nirbhaya Trust and the project has been approved by Patna Police. Police has also assured to provide assistance in the implementation of this project.
In this regard, Patna Police would setup a special Police Station for Nirbhaya Cops at Frazer Road. The Police Station would be all-women and victims of eve-teasing, molestation or any crime can lodge their complaints there.
Nirbhaya Cops would work closely with Patna Police and shall intimate any crime incidents in nearby to the special Nirbhaya Police Station. They might interfere in the matter and prevent any untoward situation.
The Units of Nirbhaya Cops would undergo three months of special training with over 35 hours of Classes. Any Female Student can apply to be a part of this community Police.
The information about Nirbhaya Cops would be made available through Websites and social networks. Assistance can be sought either through phone calls, emails, online messages and various other means.
This Scheme has been kick-started at J D Women’s College, Patna and shall be started in other women’s college soon.
