Bihar sets up 15 new Community Colleges

Bihar Government is gearing up for setting up of 15 new community Colleges in the State from Next Month. This would open up the avenues for around 1000 Seats in various courses state-wide.

The community colleges are being setup as part of Central Government’s scheme of opening 200 Community Colleges across the Country.

Each community college would cater 2-3 courses with an yearly intake of 20 seats in each course.

A Training programme for COmmunity Colleges is being organized at Chennai from 10 to 15 June 2013. A Delegation of 30 Members, 2 from each college, would attend this programme.

The colleges would be funded primarily by the Central Government with assistance from State’s Human Resource Department.

Community colleges, sometimes called junior colleges, technical colleges, or city colleges, are primarily public institutions providing higher education and lower-level tertiary education, granting certificates, diplomas, and associate’s degrees.
