BJP JDU coalition breaks in Bihar, Nitish Govt comes under Minority

Patna: The 7 year old government in Bihar has come under trouble after the NDA formally announced split in Bihar.

NDA Convener Sharad Yadav, who also is the national president of JDU, has announced that the alliance is no longer together while declaring his resignation from the post of the Convener.

Sharad Yadav Said,

We were in the NDA for 17 years and we had a national agenda that was formed with Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani. We have tried to stick to the framework of the NDA but for the past 6-7 months the situation has changed. I have resigned as NDA convenor, the JDU has come out of the NDA.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar today met governor D Y Patil and informed him about the broken coalition. He also sought time till June 22 to prove his majority in the assembly. The Confidence Motion is likely to take place on June 19.

Presently, Nitish Kumar led Government has support of 118 MLA; 2 independent MLA have also declared their Support to Nitish Kumar.  The government needs at least 123 MLA to prove majority in the assembly.

Due to the positive image of Nitish Kumar, it is likely that Nitish Kumar would be able to secure the figure of 123 votes in the Legislative Assembly and any chances of Assembly Elections in 2013 are rare.

However, in case the government is unable to get the required number of votes, President’s rule might be imposed in Bihar as no other party is in position to form Government in the State.
