Medical treatment in Bihar is gradually turning out to be unethical profession in Bihar. Be it Patna, other cities or villages, the attitude of practitioners is to loot patients of their hard earned Money. Â A Sting operation conducted by a reputed local newspaper in Bihar has highlighted the malpractices done by Female Doctors and Gynaecologists. They not only conduct illegal abortions, but also dupe patients by diagnosing the case of simple menstrual disorder as Pregnancy, and then loot hefty sum for getting it aborted.
Here are some of the malpractices highlighted in the sting.
1. Doctors are always ready to perform Abortion, regardless of the age of Foetus.
2. The Cost of Abortion varies from Rs 2500 to Rs 7000 and may be even more in bigger hospitals.
3. Each Doctor prescribes a Ultrasonography Center, where they charge at will The diagnosis perfomed from any other USG Center is not considered valid. Often such patients are asked to repeat USG.
4. Each Doctor has a definite Medical Store, only where the medicines prescribed by him/her is available.  It is evident that a percentage of total sales  amout is delivered back to Doctors.
5. Unmarried Female Patients are the biggest target of such Doctors. They are charged at will and are often misbehaved.
6. The Sting Operation was conducted by a Female Reporter, who pretended to be Pregnant, but was unmarried. Â Doctors agreed to abort the Child, without any diagnosis. One Doctor even confirmed the pregnancy by external inspection and asked her to arrange Rs 5000 as the cost of Abortion.
