Patna to implement Metropolitan Solid Waste Management System

Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has decided to implement Solid Waste Management Policy on the pattern of Metropolitan Cities. This requires the residents to pay fixed monthly charges in order to get their solid Wastes disposed.  This new rule is expected to be implemented from the month of August.

As per the proposed policy every household will be required to pay a Fixed User Charge to PMC in return for removal of Wastes from the Building. The Dumping Vehicle of PMC would visit the localites everyday collecting the garbage from Household.

According to the new Policy, Waste Sources have been classified into four categories. The Proposed User Charges for various categories are as follows

Category A

Normal Households/Flats : Rs 60

People under BPL Category: Free

Category B

Small Shops/ Footpath Stalls : Free

Restaurants, Big Shops Rs 300

Hotels, Guest House, Hostels, Educational Institutes, Private and Government offices: Rs 1000

3 Star and 5 Star Hotels: Rs 10000

Category C

Doctor’s Clinic, Dispensary and Pathology Labs: Rs 1000

Hospital (upto 50 Beds): Rs 3000

Hospitals (more than 50 beds): Rs 10000

Category D

Places of Worship and Religious Buildings: Free

Small and Medium Industries : Rs 1000

Cold Storages, Godowns and similar Buildings: Rs 2000

Marriage Halls, Exhibition Halls, Fairs: Rs 5000
