Government of India has decided to construct 17 new Airports during the 13th 5 Year Plan of 2012-17. The list of these airports were announced by Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Shri K.C. Venugopal in Parliament today.
Karnataka would get 4 new airports, followed by Maharashtra (3) and Kerala (2). No new airport has been sanctioned for Bihar, which has a huge share of Foreign Tourists and Pilgrims.
Interestingly, 11 out of 17 Airports would be setup in States which presently is  ruled by Congress or its allies.

- Bijapur Airport, Karnataka
- Hassan Airport, Karnataka
- Shimoga Airport, Karnataka
- Aranmula Airport, Kerala
- Kannur Airport, Kerala
- Sindhudurg Airport,Maharashtra
- Navi Mumbai Airport, Maharashtra
- Shirdi Airport, Maharashtra
- Dabra Airport, Madhya Pradesh
- Karaikal Airport,Pudducherry
- Kushinagar Airport,Uttar Pradesh
- Andal-Faridpur Airport, West Bengal
- Itanagar Airport, Arunachal Pradesh
- Kishangarh Airport,Ajmer Rajasthan
- Deoghar Airport,Jharkhand
