Ranchi: A Female Police Officer has been gangraped by a gang of robbers  in the Latehar district of Jharkhand. According to reports, the incident occurred at National Highway 75 near Jalgadega in Latehar district.
A FIR has been lodged by her in which she told that she was gang-raped by robbers when she was going to Garhwa from Ranchi by a car in the early hours of August 22, Superintendent of Police Michael S Raj said.
The rape victim, a widow, is a constable with the Latehar district police. The dacoits also looted passengers of different vehicles between midnight and 2am, police said.
She got the job after her husband was killed in the Maoist ambush on the convoy of former Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari in Latehar district’s Garu block in December, 2011.
A three-member team, headed by Deputy Superintendent of police Alok Kumar, has been formed to investigate the matter.
The Area is heavily Naxal affected and many incidents of Robbery, Rape, Murder have been reported in past. Recently Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar was killed due to his role in campaign against Maoists during his stint in Latehar.
