Hostel Warden arrested for raping 14 Girls in Arunachal Pradesh

Vipin Wisvan, a School Teacher  in Arunachal Pradesh has been arrested on the charges of Sexual Assault and Molestation of  14 Minor Girls for over 3 years at a Girls Hostel where he was warden. Reports indicate that he had molested several others in past.

Vipin Wisvan was also the Warden of the Girls Hostel of  a  Green Valley English Medium School in Likabali in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The incident came to light when few girls complained at the Likabeli Police Station about the Sexual Assault by Vipin Wisvan.

Initially the Girls had complained to the Principal of the School, but he tried to wash off the matter. It was only  when few girls climbed off the fence of the School building and reported the incident to the local Likabali Police Station.

However the preliminary medical examination did not find any signs of rape in the case of 12 of the 14 girls . The Government has constituted a Medical Board to examine the truth about Rape Case.

According to West Siang DC, Manoj Kumar Sahoo “We are not taking any chances since the issue is very sensitive and the health centre at Likabali is not properly equipped. The state government has constituted a medical board to examine the allegations and the medical board members are scheduled to arrive in Likabali from the state capital Itanagar on Thursday evening.”

The school has around 400 students studying from Nursery to Class 7. The hostel has around 100 inmates.

The incident also drew protests from locals who damaged part of School building after a short clash.  The Arunachal Law Students Union, Galo Students Union, and All Galo Students Union condemned the incident and appealed to the authorities not to grant bail to the culprits. Other organisations too demanded harsh punishment to the offenders.
