Know about Bodoland, Kamtapur, Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong – the 4 new State Demands in Assam

Guwahati: Agitation have erupted in various parts of Assam for re-structuring and creation of four new states of Bodoland,Kamtapur,Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong out of Assam. The demand for new states have come up after the announcement of creation of Telangana after bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.

Bodoland: It consists of areas located extreme north of north bank of Brahmaputra river in the state of Assam in north east region of India, by the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh; inhabited predominantly by the Bodo people. The map of Bodoland overlaps with the districts of Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang and Udalguri in the state of Assam

Kamtapur: It comprises some districts of West Bengal and other contiguous districts of Assam (around Koch Vihar) occupied by Rajbongshi People.

Dima Hasao: Dima Hasao district headquartered in Halflong and was formerly known as North Cachar Hills district. Dima Hasao district occupies an area of 4,888 square kilometres

Karbi Anglong: It is headquartered in Diphu Town. It is the largest amongst the 27 administrative districts of Assam. It occupies an area of 10,434 square kilometres.
