17 year old Ayesha Aziz to become First Kashmiri Woman Pilot

17 year old Girl Ayesha Aziz is all set to become the first Kashmiri Woman Pilot. She has been awarded a student pilot licence by Bombay Flying Club.

She is already a member of Indian Women Pilots’ Association and also has the Flight Radio Telephone Operator’s License (FRTOL) to her name.

Next year she would be 18 years old and this would enable her to obtain the commercial pilot license. She is striving hard to clear the commercial pilot license (CPL) examination.

She hopes to opt for higher education in Aviation and Aeronautics engineering after getting her commercial pilot license.

Her Parents hail from Khawaja Bagh in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Ayesha did her schooling from Mumbai and presently resides there along with her parents. She says, “first I studied in St. Agnes High School and later in Christ Church School ISC.”

She is immensely inspired by Sunita Williams. “I always used to think if she had ability to do such thing why can’t other girls. It is from her achievements as a woman, that I got inspired.” She adds, “I developed a mindset that no defeat is final until you stop thinking.” she was quoted saying on Kashmirlife.net, a local Website.

She also has a first hand experience of training at National Aeronautics and Space Administration. SHe has completed two months of advanced training in NASA. “It was a wonderful experience there in the US. Most of the activities in Space Academy Huntsville in Space Shuttle Mission, multi-axis training, micro-gravity, manned maneuvering unit, Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) and Area 51 activities were exciting and unforgettable,” she says.

Ayesha said Kashmir played a significant role in her life and she was emotionally attached to it. She also told girls in Kashmir not to be bothered by politics and to follow their heart.
