IAS Officer in Bihar sets example of Fuel Conservation

Arvind Kumar Singh is an IAS Officer from Bihar and the District Magistrate of Kaimur district. He has recently been in news for his Fuel Conservation and Austerity Drive which has inspired several of his colleagues and subordinates.

On September 2, he was seen commuting to the office from his Residence on a Cycle. Next day he was followed by several Junior Officers who too stopped using Vehicles for going to office. Soon it was a mass austerity drive, the credit of which must go to the District Magistrate Arvind.

Inspired by him, one Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmala Kumari was seen walking to the office.

His Residence is 4km from the Kaimur Collectorate and he is daily seen plying in between on a Bicycle.

He also decided not to move with the Police Escort team and would engage security of the police stations coming into way of his itinerary.

Following this he issued a set of austerity measures to be followed by every officer in the district. The guidelines include:

1. No Electricity Generators to be used during Lunch Break (1PM to 3PM).
2. Use Bus or Train, when needed to visit the State Capital Patna.
3. The Use of Official Vehicle for going to Patna is permitted only with the consent of DM
4. The austerity drive will be mandatory for every first week of the month. But, the practice of switching off generator during lunch break would be in place throughout the month.
