Meet Anjana Padmanabhan, the Winner of first Indian Idol Junior

Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore has become the First Indian Idol Junior, after her name was announced by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

As the winner she  received a prize money of Rs 25 lakhs from Sony Entertainment Television, a Nissan Micra Car, a fixed deposit of Rs 5  lakhs from Kotak and Rs 2 lakhs from Horlicks.

“Maine yeh expect nahin kiya tha. Main bahut khush hun (I didn’t expect this. I am very happy),” she said after being adjudged the winner based on audience voting.

The show had started with 86 contestants from across India on June 1. Judged by singer Shreya Ghoshal, and music composer duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, the Sony Entertainment Television show was hosted by Karan Wahi and Mandira Bedi.

Debanjana Mitra, Anmol Jaiswal and Nirvesh Dave secured the first and the second runners-up positions respectively.

The top four contestants also paid a tribute to Amitabh by singing some of his hit numbers, including “Yeh mera dil”, ” Ab toh hai tumse”, “Dekha na haye re”.
