Indian Railways is planning to introduce a new rule under which, passengers who provide wrong Telephone Numbers at the time of Reservation/Booking of Ticket would have their cancelled. If found travelling, such passengers would be considered Ticketless and will be dealt as per extant Codes.
According to sources, Railways plan to form a special team to verify the phone/mobile number of passengers. They will call the Numbers mentioned in the ticket and will verify other information provided at the time of Ticket Booking. In case of any mismatch, the ticket of passenger may be cancelled.
This step is being taken to prevent bogus booking and the black-marketing of Railway tickets during the festive seasons
