Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University to come up at Rae Bareli

President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent for setting up of India’s first  national aviation university named after Rajiv Gandhi to train pilots, cabin crew and aircraft engineers.

“The Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University Bill, 2013 has received the assent of the President of India. It has now been published in the Gazette of India,” an official statement said.

Earlier, Lok Sabha had passed this bill on September 7. The university would come up at Fursatganj area of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

The University aims to  facilitate and promote aviation studies and research to achieve excellence in areas of aviation management, policy, science and technology, aviation environment, training in governing fields of safety and security regulations on aviation and other related fields to produce quality human resources to cater to the needs of the aviation sector.

It would be located near Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academy and Fursatganj Airfield.
