Actress Anjum Nayar arrested for abusing Police Officers

Anjum Nayar, a model turned Actress was today arrested by Mumbai Police for abusing and threatening Police Officers.

According to police, Anjum, who resides on the 20th floor of the ‘Samartha Angan’ building in suburban Andheri, was playing music at a high volume yesterday night following which irate neighbors complained to cops.

Two policemen came knocking at the door at about 2 AM today and when she was told to reduce the volume, she began abusing the policemen, besides threatening them of dire consequences.

She was then taken to Oshiwara police, where she was placed under arrest, police said adding that she would be produced before the court tomorrow.

She has been charged under IPC sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 353 (deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

However Anjum has a different story to tell. Speaking to a newspaper she denies all charges slapped by Police and claims her innocence.

“We had a small pooja at home and music was on in one of my bedroom . The sound was in a permissible level but it was cops who initially manhandled me also the lady constable abused and slapped me throughout and fined us for no mistake of us.” -Anjum Nayar

Anjum Nayar made her Bollywood Debut with 2010 horror movie Mallika. She was later paired opposite to Jackie Shroff in the movie Cover Story.

25 Year old Anjum was born and brought up at Delhi. She has learnt acting skills from Barry John’s acting institute. Her original name was Sheena Nayar however she adopted the name Anjum after the release of Movie Mallika.
