Medical College in MP forces Trainee Nurses into Prostitution

Ujjain:  15 Female Nursing Students at R G Gardi Medical College, Ujjain have alleged that few staff and management officials of the College.are forcing them to indulge in Flesh Trade.  The Nurses were undergoing Internship at the Medical College and  belong to a nursing college in Jaora town of Ujjain district.

In a Police Complaint filed at Chimangang police station on October 28, 15 Girls alleged that the Nursing Superintendent, the Chief Medical Officer and few other officials were  putting pressure on them to indulge in sexual trade. They also alleged that some officials tried to exploit them sexually and when they reported the matter to their Matron, they were advised to keep mum.

Police have registered a case under Section 294 B (use of obscene words), 354A (sexual harassment) and 504 (deliberate hurting sentiment).  Police also arrested the Matron, who was later released on Bail.

College Management however cites a different story on this issue. It says that the trainee nurses did not want to do night shifts therefore they filed a false complaint against them.

The Complaint has also attracted the attention of Madhya Pradesh Women’s Commission (MPWC), which is conducting an independent enquiry on the whole issue.  Snehlata Upadhyaya, a member of MPWC has  sought a report from Ujjain’s superintendent of police on the issue.
