Weekly Ganga Aarti to commence at Konhara Ghat in Vaishali

Vaishali: In order to boost local Tourism Sector, Weekly Ganga Aarti would be organized at Konhara Ghat (River Bank) of River Ganga in Vaishali district. The first Aarti would be held today at 5:45PM and would be held every Monday now onwards. Jitendra Prasad, the District Magistrate of Vaishali would inaugurate the ceremony today.

Aarti is a Hindu form of worship during which lights from several wicks soaked in ghee (purified butter) or camphor is offered to God.

The Weekly Aarti would be coordinated by Bihar Tourism along with an organization Universal Satyuga Stage India Nyas under International Save Ganga Campaign. According to Mr. Bhagwan Das, Coordinator of the Campaign, this would also provide a platform to spread Awareness about making Ganga Pollution free from Gangotri in Uttarakhand to Gangasagar in West Bengal.

The Aarti would be a major attraction for Lakhs of Visitors to the Famous Sonepur Cattle Fair, which commences from November 16.

Konhara Ghat is one of the famous notified spot on the bank of River Ganga. According to Archaeologist Dilip K. Chakrabarti, Konhara Ghat was one of the major Ferry Stations during the Ancient Patliputra era, connecting Magadha to Vaishali.
