Appearing for XAT 2014? Ten Things You Must Know

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT ) 2014, the Admission Test for prestigious B-School XLRI Jamshedpur  and its associate institutes, would be held on January 05, 2014. If you are appearing for XAT 2014, here are few things you must know.

1. 89400 Candidates have registered for XAT 2014. This is slightly low number compared to XAT 2013.

2. Starting from XAT 2014, the General Knowledge paper would be the part of Main Paper.  However, the marks of General Knowledge will not be used for determining the percentile and cut off at first stage of selection. However it is used by XLRI and some other Associate Member Institutes at the time of final selection

3. The admit card would be available to download from the XAT Website any time during December 18, 2013 – December 31, 2013. XAT office will not be sending admit cards to any candidates.

4. The Results for XAT 2014 would be available online latest by January 31, 2014.

5.  There wont be any centralized Counselling. In order to get an admission to XLRI or any other B-School, you must apply separately to those Schools along with your XAT Registration Number.

6. Starting from XAT 2014, any  Institutes admitting through XAT can avail of any Candidates’ essay. It would be used at the time of Final Selection.

7. XLRI has recently increased its PGDM (HRM) seats from 120 to 180 academic session 2014-15.  This makes intake for both its main programmes (HRM and BM) 180 seats each.

8.  In the placement session 2013, 77 companies visited XLRI for recruiting management graduates and offered 77 jobs. Among the total number of 234 students in the 2011-13 batch, 233 got final placements. The average annual salary offered to the students was Rs 15.53 lakhs and the highest domestic salary was Rs 28 lakhs while the international recruiters offered an annual package of Rs 16 lakhs. 9.  The Academic Fees for 2 years regular PGDM (BM) and PGD (HRM) Courses at  XLRI Jamshedpur  total to Rs 15,99,000 which includes Rs 8,10,000 tuition fees, Rs 46,000 caution money, Rs 30,000 admission fees, Rs 83,000 hostel fees and Rs, 6,30,000 as other fees.

10.  Last year, 106 business schools accepted XAT scores as part of their admission criteria. Apart from XLRI, other top B-schools in the country that accepted XAT results include Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai; Xavier Institute Of Management & Entrepreneurship, Bangalore; Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar; SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai and others.
