Bangalore Nanded Express Fire kills 23, injuring over 12 Passengers

Vijayawada: Nanded bound 16594 Bangalore-Nanded Express caught fire at around 3 AM near Anantapuram in Andhra Pradesh resulting in 23 deaths and over 12 reportedly injured in the tragedy.

As per news reports, the Train left Bangalore at 10:30PM yesterday.  The fire broke out when the train was near the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram in Anantapuram district

The incident occurred in the AC Coach of the Train. While the cause of fire is not known, it is widely believed due to short circuit in the Bogey. Those who were near the gate managed to jump out, while others were subjected to burns or suffocation leading to Deaths.

Fire fighters have rushed to the spot and fire has been doused off, however the evacuation process is still going on

Railways have announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 5 Lakhs for the Deaths and Rs 50,000 for injuries. The Investigation is yet to start.
